DEATH OF THE REV. WILLIAM LOWE 1891 |
---|
We greatly regret to have to announce the death of the Rev. William Lowe, of York, Western Australia. He had been in failing health for some years and passed away this morning very quietly and without much pain, at seven o'clock.
He began his ministerial career in New South Wales in 1844. He travelled in the Geelong and Melbourne Circuits in Victoria; the Burra Circuit in South Australia; Westbury, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania; and in Western Australia he held the position of Chairman of the District for twenty years. He discharged the duties of his important office with the greatest credit to himself and benefit to the church.
He spent ten years of his ministry as Pastor of Wesley Church, Perth, Western Australia and the remainder of his ministry at York, W.A., where the evening of his days was spent in well-deserved ease.
His ministry extended over 47 years, and the record he leaves behind him is one which reflects honor on his name. The deepest sympathy of the whole community will be extended to his widow and family.
His remains will be brought to Perth for interment, and the funeral will leave Wesley Church for the Cemetery at 4.30 to-morrow.
